My name is Salma and I am a qualified CBT therapist. I support individuals in understanding the connection between their thoughts, emotions and behaviours, empowering them to make meaningful and lasting changes. As a Black Muslim woman, wife and mother, I recognise the many layers of identity we carry and how overwhelming life can sometimes feel. Through Hayat Wellness CBT, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals, feel seen, heard and supported.
Whether you are experiencing mental health difficulties or navigating a challenging season of life, I am committed to walking alongside you.
In many Muslim communities, mental health remains a sensitive subject, and seeking therapy may be met with hesitation or stigma. I am dedicated to offering practical tools for managing emotional struggles while respecting and integrating Islamic values. My aim is to help dismantle barriers within our communities by demonstrating that seeking support is not only acceptable but also encouraged within Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasised the importance of both spiritual and psychological well-being. I believe that CBT can serve as a bridge between faith and healing, enabling clients to approach life’s challenges with resilience, confidence and hope.
Over the past four years I have worked as a CBT therapist across various organisations supporting individuals with a range of mental health disorders. This experience deepened my commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care and strengthened my ability to adapt therapy to diverse client needs.
